ClosetOS Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 October 2026

Not yet reviewed by a lawyer. This states the arrangement accurately and is intended as the basis for legal review, not a substitute for it.

What ClosetOS is

An app for cataloguing the clothes you own and putting outfits together. It runs on your iPhone and stores your wardrobe there. Some features — drafting a piece's details, finding garments in a photograph, suggesting looks, and creating a style from your wardrobe — send a request to the ClosetOS stylist service, which is processed by Anthropic. What each one sends is listed in the Privacy Policy and shown in the app before you use any of them.

Your account

An account is optional. Everything that works offline works without one.

You sign in with Apple, and you may delete the account from inside the app at any time. Deleting it removes what the stylist service holds; your wardrobe is on your phone and is unaffected.

You are responsible for the device you sign in from. If you lose it, deleting the account revokes its sessions.

Limits, and what they are for

Stylist features are rationed. Today that means a one-time free allowance per device, for trying the stylist without an account; and for signed-in accounts, daily per-feature limits and a global daily spending ceiling on our side.

These are circuit breakers, not a product tier: they exist so that a fault or an abused token costs a day's ceiling rather than an unbounded amount, and they are provisional while real usage is measured. The app always tells you what is left and never guesses — the count comes from the service.

The free allowance is counted per device and does not reset on its own. Deleting an account and creating another on the same phone does not restore it. If reinstalling the app leaves you without it, contact support and we may restore it.

Access to stylist features may be limited, suspended or withdrawn — including for accounts that have not yet been admitted while the service is in its early stages.

What you may not do

What the stylist produces

Suggestions, not advice. Output is generated by a language model and can be wrong, repetitive or unsuitable. It is offered as a starting point and you remain responsible for what you do with it. Drafted details are proposals you review before they are saved.

Your content

Your wardrobe is yours. We claim no ownership of your photographs or the descriptions you write. You grant only what is needed to run the feature you asked for: sending the content described in the Privacy Policy to the stylist service and to Anthropic in order to return an answer to you.

Availability

The stylist service is offered as it is. It may be unavailable, slow, or withdrawn. The local app keeps working without it — that is the point of the local-first design, not a fallback we added.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, ClosetOS is provided without warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Keep your own backups. Your wardrobe lives on one device. Settings → Backup exports everything as a file you control, and it is the only copy that survives losing the phone.

Changes

Material changes will be published here with a new date. Continuing to use the stylist features after that means accepting them.
